Angie had previously done a couple shoot for Rachel and Chris a few years ago, which starred their beautifully restored camper van. So it was lovely when we got the message from Rachel to say they were getting married! She said she wasn’t interested in getting quotes from any other photographers, as she had always said that Hearts & Flowers would definitely be her chosen photographers!
On the 8th October 2016, we joined them at the small, but pretty, St Mary’s Church in Hawkwell for their wedding. Of course, the gorgeous bride arrived in a proper sweet little camper van, and looked amazing! Chris was so smiley and it was brilliant being a part of the day when they finally said ‘I do’.
Their wedding reception was at the Brandy Hole in Hullbridge. What a picturesque location for pictures outside! It was a fantastic evening with great speeches, great food and such friendly people. Not forgetting the incredible VW camper van themed wedding cake.
Rachel had previously warned us that her Dad absolutely hates having his photo taken, and admittedly, we struggled to get a smile from him. So, imagine our excitement when we were in the middle of editing the images and found we had captured a pretty good smile – during an intimate father-daughter moment, looking out over the River Crouch!
We loved how they had a slideshow projecting on the wall, showing pictures of them as children as well as 10 years worth of pictures together. We even spotted a few which were taken by Angie, and it was lovely with some guests commenting that they remembered Rachel & Chris having their shoot done!
A special mention must be made for Peter the vicar. He had the most unusual way of communicating with the congregation.. To everyone’s amusement, he went completely off topic mid-service! But the laugh of the day has got to be when Rachel & Chris were cutting the cake, and the knife handle snapped off! Their faces were an absolute picture and we captured it!
