Talk about a party on a grand scale! That is what Peggy & Shine decided to do when their joint Birthdays and special Wedding Anniversary fell at around the same time. There was no expense spared on this amazing party, and it couldn’t have involved a better selection of people!
They decided on a masquerade ball, because.. well, why not? Peggy was absolutely strict on the whole mask thing… no ask, no entry! And we are glad she did. And where else could you hold such a party other than the magnificent Hylands House in Chelmsford.
We started our evening with them in the entrance to the house, photographing the guests as they arrived. There were some great ‘photo opportunities’ of couples tying each other’s masks on and helping each other fit their masks. Everyone had made such an effort, with finding really unique masks. There were some gorgeous evening dresses and ball gowns too!
When the event organisers had finished setting up the tables in The Banqueting Room, we were allowed in to photograph all the beautiful decorations and place settings. Peggy and Shine had decided on a red, black, white and gold theme. It looked amazing! They even had a tiered cake each!
It was when the guests were all seated in the Banqueting Room, that the place literally came to life. We were in our element. Fun people, fabulous clothing, masks and the opulence of their theme suddenly came to life!
While everyone tucked into their three course meals, Sophie and I headed to The Terrace Room, to eat our own, which Peggy and Shine kindly insisted on. Wow, it was gorgeous!
After everybody had eaten, it was time for champagne and cigars on the terrace, ready for a huge firework display! Even though it was cold, everyone huddled together and looked up in amazement.
Once the fireworks were done, it was time to back inside for the cake cut and speeches.
Then, the music was turned up and the party really started! This is when we saw Peggy and Shine’s dance moves.. absolutely brilliant!
All in all, this was the best party we have ever been asked to photograph. Thank you Peggy and Shine for choosing us!
