Petra Blacklock is a newborn photographer who also shoots births, but when she became pregnant with her third child, she decided to find someone to photograph her own birth for a change.
Guess who she asked? ME!! I was SO excited but also very nervous, wondering if I would do as good a job as she does for her clients. When the day came, I was surprised at how calm I actually was, and I was ready for my first ever birth shoot!
It all happened fairly quickly and naturally, in their living room. Max & Ivy, their other children, were present the whole time, and Max even cut the umbilical cord! It was an utterly beautiful afternoon, and Richard, her husband, was so proud of how well Petra did.
Baby Quinn was born at 6:36pm, weighing 9lbs 3oz.
I am still in a bit of a spin, everytime I get asked how it went, and I can talk for ages about the experience. I am so, so thankful to have been chosen to photograph such a private and emotional occassion, for such a lovely family.
